Known as the resting place of the Fianna, Fossa has attracted settlers since ancient times. Its location on the shores of Loch Léin has provided a beautiful backdrop for generations of families to raise children, work the land, and create a vibrant and thriving community.

This history of Fossa is organized according to its ten Station districts, a decision inspired by the strong tradition of the Stations in the area. Neighbourliness has always been a key focus of the Stations, and it is also something that distinguishes the people of Fossa.
Their strong sense of community permeates these accounts of Fossa’s
history and heritage, which, together with a wealth of illustrations and
photographs, will give anyone with an interest in local history
a strong sense of what makes Fossa so special.
